The climactic battle of the 2025 Crestview League softball title came on Tuesday night when Cypress hosted Pacifica in a battle for the league crown.
The Mariners lost a close one, falling to the Centurions 1-0, but they finished in a three-way tie for the title with Cypress and El Modena, all with 7-5 lead records.

And, by the way, the Orange County Top 25 for baseball and softball featured several of our local teams.
In baseball, Huntington Beach is ranked number one. The Oilers are 19-4 and won an eighth straight league championship, this time in the Sunset League.
HBHS is rated 43th in the U.S. and fourth in California. Edison (13-14) is ranked 19th in the OC.
In softball, Pacifica (15-10) is ranked sixth. Huntington Beach (19-7) is rated 12th, followed by Marina (12-13) in 15th.
What a big racquet!
The CIF-SS boys’ team tennis pairings are out. First round action is this week with the championships on Friday, May 15.
Edison (13-7) is seeded first in Division 2.
• In Division 1, Marina (14-3) will host Brentwood (11-5) on Friday,In Division 2, Edison has a first-round bye on Wednesday (today) and will host the winner of Camarillo/Crean Lutheran on Friday. Also on Wednesday, Huntington Beach (9-7) will host Martin Luther King (11-13).
• In Division 3, La Quinta (11-4) will host Chino Hills (11-7) on Wednesday.
• In Division 5, on Wednesday Los Amigos (12-3) will host Tarbut V Torah (6-4).
• In Division 6, Bolsa Grande (7-7) will visit Duarte (15-3) and Pacifica (7-2) will visit Northview (7-2) on Wednesday.
• In Division 7, Santiago (7-1) will host Westminster (7-7) and Rancho Alamitos (4-9) will visit Knight (8-7), also on Wednesday.
