A MAN was fatally shot Saturday in Santa Ana (Shutterstock).

A homicide investigation into the gunshot death of a Santa Ana man is continuing.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident took place on Saturday. A shooting was reported in the area of 1100 S. Townsend St. around 7:48 a.m.

Responding officers found a man – identified as Christopher Michael Abarca, 23 – seated in the driver’s seat of a sedan and having sustained a wound from a firearm.

Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his wounds.

Homicide detectives are seeking to identify and locate additional witnesses who can provide information about the incident.
