What’s now called the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is being debated this evening in the U.S. Senate with no final vote as of this writing.

According to the Associated Press, at least one Republican senator – Thom Tillis of North Carolina – has said he would vote against the bill, and several others are reported to be “on the fence.”

The Republicans have a 53-47 advantage in the Senate, and with a potential tie-breaking vote by Vice President JD Vance, they can afford to lose only two more votes.

U.S Capital Police arrested 38 people on Friday protesting the bill at two locations in the Capital area.

They were charged with crowding, obstructing and “incommoding,” which is defined as “to give inconvenience or distress” to someone.
