Beware of Medicare, SS scams

Garden Grove police are warning residents – especially senior citizens – of a Medicare/Medi-Cal “scam” intended to prey on concerns connected to changes in those programs recently enacted by Congress.

The scam is aimed primarily at the elderly and such fraudsters most commonly ask for Social Security and/or Medicare numbers.

These agencies will never call you uninvited to request personal or private information. There is no change for a new Medicare card.

If someone asks for your information, for money, or threatens to cancel your health benefits if you don’t share your personal information, call the non-emergency GGPD line at (714)741-5704 or Medicare at 1-800-633-4227.
