Has the cease-fire ceased?

The Associated Press is reporting that Israeli forces launched a series of air attacks on Sunday against Hamas positions in retaliation against what it says is the killing of two soldiers.

Palestinian officials claim the death of 36 of their people.

Also as a response, the transfer of aid into the Gaza area was stopped.

The ceasefire will return to being enforced and aid delivery resumed, said Israeli officials later in the day.

President Donald Trump said the cease-fire remained and that “we want to make sure it’s going to be very peaceful.”
Vice President JD Vance conceded that a complete end to all violence will happen in “fits and starts.”

Misfire during Marine Corps celebration

The 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps celebrated on Sunday pointed out an eternal military truth: weapons and ammunition don’t always do what you want them to do.

The New York Times reports that an artillery shell – a big 155-millimeter device – exploded prematurely as it flew over Interstate 5 in Southern California.

No one was hurt, but shrapnel from the shell rained down on a CHP patrol vehicle and a motorcycle.

Gov. Gavin Newsom had objected to the event, citing safety concerns. But the military insisted there was no danger.
As a precaution. Newsom ordered a 17-mile stretch of the freeway closed during the event.

A Marine spokesman said an investigation into the “airborne detonation” was underway.

After falling behind 23-3 to the Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Chargers rallied with three touchdowns in the second half but ended up ulosing 38-24 to fall to 4-2 in the AFC West. All three of those scores were on passes by Justin Herbert.
