Football championships and playoff berths started emerging Thursday night for teams from our West Orange County area.
Pacifica (7-3 overall) won the Omicron League crown with a 28-7 win over the Portola Bulldogs of Irvine.
Rancho Alamitos (6-4) grabbed second place in the Sigma League and a CIF-SS bid with a 28-7 win over Ocean View (7-3).
Both teams finished with 3-2 marks in Sigma action, but the Vaqueros will be the second place team on the basis of having defeated the Seahawks.
Western (6-4) jumped out to a 25-0 first quarter lead and coasted to a 46-17 win over the Trabuco Hills Mustangs. The Pioneers have a 2-4 mark in the Sigma League.
Finishing fourth in the Sigma are the Los Amigos Lobos (5-5), who lost 35-26 to the Calvary Chapel/Santa Ana (10-0) team.
Garden Grove (2-8) lost 26-6 to the Kappa League champion Segerstrom Jaguars.. The Argonauts finished last and lost their last seven games. It was their third consecutive losing season.
