Domestic violence is believed to be the cause of the death of a 44-year-old Westminster woman on Saturday night.

According to Commander Andy Stowers of the WPD, the incident began around 8 p.m. when officers responded to a home near the intersection of Sinclair Avenue and Sorbonne Street (northeast of Bolsa Avenue and Magnolia Street) in Westminster to assist the Orange County Fire Authority after a woman was found by a family member unresponsive and not breathing within the home.

OCFA firefighter paramedics arrived first and found the woman dead on a bed with “visible signs of trauma.” WPD officers determined that the circumstances were suspicious and detectives were summoned.

They concluded the incident was a homicide and identified a suspect who was at the scene. They decided the death was related to what they called “intimate partner violence” and had occurred earlier in the day.

A search warrant was obtained and a suspect – identified as Thai Huynh, 47, of Westminster – was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Detective Figueroa at (714) 548-3783 or the WPD watch commander at (714) 548-3767.
