3 days of Flower Street asked

A request to close a portion of historic Main Street for three days for the annual Flower Street event goes before the Garden Grove City Council when it meets on Tuesday.

The Vietnamese Sport Association of Southern California is asking approval for the closing of Main Street between Acacia Parkway and Stanford Avenue starting on Friday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 15 with operating hours each day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Also requested is “partial use of Village Green Park for a small performance stage and vendor booths that include food vendors, sponsors and a flower marketplace.”

Flower Street is a traditional Vietnamese event which features flower structures, music and contests.

Also on the agenda is selection of a new mayor pro tempore (vice mayor) for the coming year.
The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
