Congressional Democrats and Republicans are divided on whether classified videos of a U.S. military strike on a suspected drug-running boat in the Caribbean should be released to the public.
The New York Times is reporting that some members of Congress have seen the video – in which survivors of a strike were killed while clinging to the debris of their boat – which has not need made public.
Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington) has described as “simply not accurate” the Republican version of events as the survivors “trying to flip a capsized boat, rescue its cargo and and continue trafficking drugs.”
President Donald Trump has said he would have “no problem” making the video public, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that might “compromise sources and methods.”
