Indiana is a solid-red state, not having gone for a Democratic presidential candidate since 2008. But this week the state’s GOP rejected one of President Donald Trump’s most desired projects.
The State Senate voted down a re-districting proposal this week urged by the president, a re-drawing of congressional districts intended to make more Republican-friendly seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to the Associated Press, the president approached the effort with more vinegar than honey, calling the state’s top Republican senator “a bad guy, or a very stupid one.”
When it was all over, 21 Republican senators voted against the proposed redrawing, repelled as much by the “tone” of the White House” as much as by the proposal itself.
Referring to Sen. Rodric Bray, Trump said, “He’ll probably lose his next primary, whenever that its. I hope he does, because he’s done a tremendous disservice.”
Trust sues over White House ballroom
A federal lawsuit has been filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to stop the construction of the 90,000 square foot proposed White House ballroom.
The New York Times is reporting that the Trust intends to require President Donald Trump to submit his plans to several local governing bodies and Congress.
The historic East Wing had already been demolished and the White House contends that no zoning or building permits are needed because the president has the “final say.”
The lawsuit cites a provision of the U.S. Code stating that “no building shall be erected on any reservation, park or public grounds in the District of Columbia without express authority of Congress.”

The specific nature of the the king’s cancer has not been revealed. While the treatments are said to be going well, his cancer is not believed to be in remission or “otherwise cured.”
