A WESTMINSTER police vehicle was involved in collision during a pursuit early Sunday morning (Shutterstock).

Chase, crash, injuries and an arrest was the sequence of events for an incident early Sunday morning in Westminster.

According to the Westminster Police Department, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. near Beach Boulevard and Westminster Boulevard.

A WPD police unit sought to stop a vehicle for California Vehicle Code violations when the motorist drove away, starting a short pursuit through the area.

During the chase, a WPD unit was involved in a crash with an uninvolved auto.
Minor injuries were reported and the motorist treated.

The suspect being pursued finally stopped and was taken into custody with help from the Anaheim Police Department.

The driver was booked on charges of felony driving under the influence and felony evading, according to police.

Further details about the suspect were not immediately released by Westminster police as the investigation into the incident is continuing.
