Suspect is arrested in child kidnap and molestation case

A SUSPECT in a kidnapping and molestation in Westminster has been arrested (Shutterstock).

An 8-year-old child playing outside in Westminster with a friend was grabbed by a man who took her to another location where he allegedly molested her.

That took place on March 21, 2026 and two days later an arrest of a suspect has been made.

According to Commander Andy Stowers of the WPD, Anthony Gonzales, a Westminster resident, 19, is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.

He was arrested and charged for:
• kidnapping;
• kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual act
• lewd or lascivious acts with a minor
• lewd or lascivious acts with a minor by means of force, fear or duress;
• annoying or molesting a child under 18.

The incident took place near the 13500 block of Edwards Street, near Trask Avenue and north of Finley Elementary School. After being grabbed and dragged to another location, the girl was able to break free and run home.

Following an investigation, a suspect was identified, arrested without incident on Monday and booked into Orange County Jail.
