After one game, the Angels and Dodgers are both undefeated and in first place.
The opening day contests on Thursday saw the Angels defeat the Astros in Houston 3-0, and the Dodgers out-slugged the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chavez Ravine 8-2.
In the Angels’ win, Mike Trout homered and walked three times. Nolan Schanuel also hit a solo homer as well. Jo Adell and Logan O’Hoppe each had two hits and Jose Soriano pitched six two-hit innings. He struck out seven batters and walked four.
Back in Los Angeles, Will Smith hit a solo home run and Andy Pages launched a two-run homer in the win.
They each ended up with three RBIs. Shohei Ohtani, batting leadoff, was 1-for-3 with a walk and one run scored.
Yoshi Yamamoto worked six innings, yielding five hits and two earned runs. He struck out six batters and walked two.
The same matchups will repeat on Friday.
