Irvine man is arrested on ‘child endangerment’ charge

AN IRVINE man was arrested on a child endangerment charge in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).

An Irvine man was arrested today (Thursday) by Huntington Beach police on a felony child endangerment charge involving an elementary school student.

According to Jessica Cuchilla, Huntington Beach public affairs officer, Ivan Mendoza, 21, was arrested in connection with a “suspicious incident” involving children on Tuesday near Newland Elementary School.

Police responded to reports of a man driving through a neighborhood near the school and “engaging in suspicious behavior.”

Based on information from the community and evidence gathered by detectives, Mendoza was arrested.
