A 78-year-old Santa Ana woman was fatally injured when struck by a motor vehicle on Wednesday.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, police were notified of the accident around 7:10 a.m. about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Keller Avenue and Marine Street.

Officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded to the scene and located Sara Torres of Santa Ana lying in the roadway with “significant injuries.” She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Torres was crossing Keller at Marine when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Marine Street. The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with the investigation and did not appear to be impaired.

On the next day, the Orange County Coroner’s Office notified the SAPD that Torres had succumbed to her injuries.
