An officer-involved fatal shooting on Sunday in Santa Ana is under investigation.
According to the SAPD, the shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 3400 S. Main Street area. The person making the report said that his girlfriend’s 16-year-old son was “under the influence,” damaging property inside their apartment and had stabbed him with a knife.
Arriving officers contacted the suspect, who still had his knife. “During the encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” according to a SAPD statement.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
The incident will be investigated by the SAPD Homicide Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
