According to the Orange County District Attorney, Roberto Machuca, 32, Riverside, is facing three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor more than three years younger than him; one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a minor, and one felony count of oral copulation with a minor.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, but could be sentenced to a maximum sentence of five years in state prison and would be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years if convicted of all offenses.

He worked for the GGPD as a police officer since 2018 and formerly was advisor to the department’s Explorer program for people ages 14 to 21 who have interest in learning about careers in law enforcement.

GGPD leadership became aware of the relationship in June. He was put on leave and arrested when he showed up to work the next day.
He is out on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in West Justice Center in Westminster on Tuesday morning.
