The creation of a new Art Center Committee will be considered by the Huntington Beach City Council when it meets on Tuesday.

The creation of a committee of seven to nine residents appointed by two council liaisons was suggested by Mayor Casey McKeon and Councilmembers Pat Burns and Don Kennedy.

Its mission would be to “assist the Art Center with scheduling events, education classes and curating art exhibitions with national and local artists in order to advance the Art Center, promote local artists and coordinate events with the Surf Museum.”

The Art Center is located at 538 Main St.

The council will meet Tuesday in a closed session at 4 p.m. and regular session at 6 p.m. in its chambers, 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
