You have to have some sympathy for the game announcer at Friday’s Iota League football contest between Pacifica and Marina.
The Pacifica team is the Mariners and the home team is Marina …well, you get the idea.

Aside from all that, this contest between PHS (7-1 overall, 2-1 in league ) and MHS (4-4, 2-1) could go a long way toward determining which team might go to the CIF-SS playoffs.

Those teams are two of the three (Laguna Hills is the other) tied for second behind first place Cypress (7-1, 3-0).

Another interesting matchup is a Foxtrot League clash with unbeaten Orange (8-0, 3-0) hosting Irvine (6-2, 2-1) at Fred Kelly Stadium.

A win for the Panthers would clinch no worse than a tie for the league title. A loss would create the possibility of a tie among Orange, Irvine and El Dorado.
