Netanyahu’s bloc to be in the minority in Israeli parliament?

Long-time Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may find it difficult to continue as the leader of his nation.

The Associated Press is reporting that exit polls Tuesday are indicating what was described as “a sharp rebuke.” The polls, taken via questions asked of voters after they cast their ballots, indicate that opposition parties will have a “solid majority” in the Israeli parliament.

In Israel, the head of government is not elected directly by the voters through the states – as in the U.S. – but as in the model of Great Britain, where the party which wins the most seats in Parliament picks the winner from among its number.

Opposition parties – the polls suggest – will win “about 52” seats to “about 50” for Netanyahu’s block. Arab parties will win 18.

Preliminary results are expected on Wednesday, but the selection could take weeks.

High court will allow immigration deal

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that it will support an agreement between the State of Texas and the Trump Administration on immigration courts.

According to United Press International, the one-sentence order will allow Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s lawsuit to remove judge’s discretion to end immigration cases.

Under the Biden Administration, there was a policy that allowed immigration judges the choice to end cases to help clear the backlog of pending matters.

Paxton is the Republican candidate for a U.S. Senate seat. Polling indicates that he is locked in a near-dead heat with Democrat James Talarico. The latest polls show Talarico with a 2.5-point lead, within the margin of error.

Rays stay alive for Game 5

Trailing three games to none in the fourth game of the 2026 World Series, the Tampa Bay Rays rallied with two runs in the bottom of the 12th inning on Tuesday night to win 4-3 and force a Game Five.

It appeared for a while that the Milwaukee Brewers would sweep the series when Cooper Pratt homered in the top of the 12th for a 3-2 lead, but that was not the end.

Helped by a a fielding error, the Brewers loaded the bases, tied the game at 3-all and won it with Ben Richardson’s high-bouncing walk-off single that fell into right field to bring in the winning run.

Tampa Bay’s come-from behind rally postponed for at least one night the Brewers’ plans to win the franchise’s first-ever World Series crown.

Game Five will be Wednesday at the Tropicana Field. Games Six and and Seven would be back on Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday.
