A DUI/Driver License Checkpoint will be operated somewhere within the Garden Grove City Limits on July 30-31 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Garden Grove police will man the checkpoint and will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, as well as checking drivers for their licenses. Motorists will be delayed “only momentarily,” according to the GGPD.
Funding for the checkpoint is from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Administration.
OPEN HOUSE ON GENERAL PLAN
An open house of the Miriam Warne Community Building, located at 14491 Beach Blvd. in Westminster, will be hold on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow members of the public to learn about and provide input to the city’s draft general plan. The open house will be in Suite A.
The plan calls for introduction of mixed use zones, creating a community identify for Westminster, mobility improvements and economic development opportunities.
CHARGERS HEAD FOR JAPAN
The Edison High School baseball team is off to Japan to play five games against teams in that country. The Chargers will return on July 27.
They will play one game in Tokyo, then travel by bullet train to Anjo, a sister city to Huntington Beach, for four more games. The team, parents and its coaches raised the money for the trip through a variety of fund-raisers.
