Four are arrested after car, foot chase

Four suspects were arrested by Huntington Beach police Wednesday afternoon after a pursuit by vehicle and on foot. According to the HBPD, the incident started at 4:45 p.m. when a patrol unit attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle in the area of 5th Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

The pursued vehicle raced east on Atlanta Avenue from Orange and collided with another vehicle, which was occupied. At that point, the four people in the first vehicle sought to flee on foot in different directions, but two were quickly apprehended. A third was taken into custody after what police describe as a “brief altercation.”

Police say the fourth suspect ran through front and back yards in the area of Huntington Street and Baltimore before being arrested. Officers think the he might have dropped evidence – including, possibly, a weapon – while fleeing.

Identities of the suspects are not being released pending further investigation. The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the second car was not injured.
