A three-year contract with classified workers in the Huntington Beach Union High School District was approved by the district’s board of trustees Tuesday night.
The pact the board agreed to will be retroactive from July 1, 2015 and run through 2018. A 4.75 percent wage increase will be dated back to that date, and a 0.5 percent increase retroactive to July 1, 2016 will be added, and then another 0.5 percent increase effective on July 1, 2017.
The contract is with the California School Employees Association, Chapter 157. Classified staff is generally non-faculty workers such as bus drivers, food service workers, maintenance staff and others.
The board will also approve a similar wage adjustment for classified employees who are exempt from joining the union. The HBUHSD is a 7-12 district serving Huntington Beach and portions of Fountain Valley, Westminster and Garden Grove.
