City Councilman Steve Jones will – almost certainly – be the next mayor of Garden Grove. When the extended filing period for candidates closed Wednesday at 5 p.m., Jones was the sole remaining nominee. Don Taylor, his last rival, dropped out.
Barring an unlikely successful write-in campaign, Jones will become the 15th mayor of the city of over 175,000 people. He was appointed to the council in 2007 to fill the vacancy created when Janet Nguyen was elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors. He was elected in 2008 and again in 2012.
According to the City Clerk’s office, here’s the lineup for the Nov. 8 election in Garden Grove.
