Fleeing suspects crashed a stolen sports utility vehicle into a home in Huntington Beach late Tuesday night according to police. A resident on Pimlico Circle called to report two men who were possibly stealing items from doorsteps in the neighborhood.

The pair entered a black Chevrolet SUV – later determined to be stolen – and drove off as police arrived. A pursuit followed and the SUV crashed into a house.

The next day at 6 p.m., a resident on Hitchingpost Circle reported a man coming inside his house and taking keys: the homeowner detained the intruder in the garage for police.

Officers connect that suspect with earlier burglaries on Pimlico and Churchill streets. Earlier that day, there were several vehicle burglaries reported in the area of Springdale Street and McFadden Avenue.

Vehicle keys found in the stolen SUV may have come from burglaries conducted during the middle of the night. Police caution people to lock their windows and doors to discourage such intruders.
