Summer’s drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of local fun and entertainment to be bad. Here are some ideas.

Three R-rated action for your enjoyment this weekend.

  • “Don’t Breathe.” Home invaders get more than they bargained for in this horror-suspense film.
  • “Hands of Stone.” A biopic about boxer Roberto Duran (portrayed by Edgar Ramirez). Also starring Robert deNiro.
  • “The Mechanic: Resurrection.” Arthur Bishop (Jason Stratham) comes out of hitman retirement to rescue his lover (Jessica Alba). Also starring Tommy Lee Jones.

ON STAGE

Shakespeare and Shakespeare without Shakespeare on local stages.

  • “Pirates of Penzance” concludes its’ run this weekend (Friday through Sunday) at the Festival Amphitheatre on Main Street in Garden Grove. A production of Shakespeare Orange County.
  • William Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors” wraps up this weekend at the Westminster Community Playhouse” at 7272 Maple Ave. in Westminster.

MUSIC

The Summer Series of the Huntington Beach Concert Band continues this Sunday in Central Park (Goldenwest Street and Talbert Avenue) with The Wiseguys Big Band Machine. It’s a blend of swing and jazz, Rat Pack-style.
