FOUR of eight local high school football teams posted victories Friday night.

 

Local teams went four-for-eight in games played Friday night involving schools serving the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area.

  • Sunny Hills 30, Santiago 14

The Cavaliers opened the season with a setback against the Lancers. Angel Tajimaroa led the purple attack with 185 yards passing and one TD. Dylan Ourng rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.

  • Laguna Beach 47, Bolsa Grande 18

They grabbed an early 8-7 lead, but the Matadors couldn’t keep pace with the visiting Breakers. Cristian Najera caught one scoring pass (from Andrew Guillen) and ran for another touchdown in the loss.

  • Servite 17, Fountain Valley 0

It was a tough loss to a highly-rated team for the Barons. Ben Vallier led FVHS with 68 yards on the ground.

  • Orange 43, Costa Mesa 0

Five Panther players scored touchdowns in the big win over the Cowboys. Aaron Murray stood out the most, running for two touchdowns and 71 yards.

  • Los Amigos 32, Fairmont Prep 21

After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, the Lobos rallied. Steve Hernandez and Edgar Gallindo each ran for a pair of scores in the comeback win.

  • Marina 34, Dana Hills 14

Blaine Riederich ran for 200 yards – including an 83-yard run – and two touchdowns in the Vikings win. Noah Holmes caught two TD passes from Ian Green, with ended up with 117 yards in the air.

  • Huntington Beach 43, West Adams Prep 0

Nick Welch threw for the scores and Carson Contreras ran for three TD in the Oiler’s one-side win.

  • Brethren Christian 15, Ocean View 7

Xavier Salgado ran for a four-yard touchdown as the sole Seahawk score in their loss to the Warriors.

TONIGHT

Edison High (1-0) takes on Tesoro at Huntington Beach High. The Titans open their season ranked 13th in Orange County; the Chargers are ninth.
