According to the Westminster Police Department, the pursuit started at 2:10 a.m. when a WPD officer tried to stop a car for vehicle code violations in the area of Bolsa Chica Avenue and Garden Grove Boulevard.

But the car wasn’t stopped and it sped away onto the eastbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway at speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour with patrol units in pursuit and the Anaheim police helicopter “Angel” flying cover.

The black Mercedes Benz sport utility sports vehicle finally came to a halt in the driveway of a home in the 5400 block of Fifth Street in Santa Ana. The driver entered the home, but WPD units arrived and sent K-9 Pako into the house, where the suspect quickly surrendered.

He is identified as Timothy Ray Rodriguez of Santa Ana. He was arrested on charges of felony evading arrest, probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing and driving on a suspended license, and booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
