Pumpkins take the stage for October

THE JACK ‘O’LANTERN Jamboree is set for Oct. 28 in Garden Grove, and a pumpkin patch is open at Westminster Mall.

The 15h annual Jack O’Lantern Jamboree Halloween celebration will take place on Friday. Oct. 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Atlantis Play Center in Garden Grove.

LogoforNewsBriefsActivities at the event include a “spook” train, carnival games, crafts, bounce houses, “goodies” and a magician. There will also be a pumpkin patch where children ages 13 and under will be able to claim a free pumpkin while supplies last.

Tickets are $8 per person, and are limited to the first 300 children. Kids 2 and under are free. Only cash or credit cards are accepted and there will be no ticket sales at the door. Sales will begin On Oct. 10. For more information, call (714) 741-5200.

Pumpkins now at Westminster Mall

The Pumpkin Factory Pumpkin Patch is open Saturday (Oct. 1) at Westminster Mall. Throughout October, shoppers will be able to buy pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. There will also be rides for the youngsters.

Hours on Monday through Thursday will be from 3-9 p.m. On Friday, it’ll be 3-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The mall is located at Goldenwest Street and Bolsa Avenue in Westminster, near the San Diego (405) Freeway.

Nguyen gets endorsement, contributions

Garden Grove City Council candidate Kim Nguyen has received the endorsement of the Garden Grove Police  Association, her campaign has announced.

She’s also successful in her fund-raising, her campaign says. She’s received $12,310 as of the filing period that ended Friday. She is a candidate for District 6, competing with Rickk Montoya. A statement from the Montoya campaign said that the GGPA also endorsed him.

Cat blamed in GG house fire

A fire Thursday night in Garden Grove is being blamed on a cat who knocked over a lit candle. The blaze was in the 12000 block of Dunklee Lane just before midnight.

Six people displaced and were assisted by the Red Cross. There were no injuries. The value of damage was estimated at $15,000.
