Challenger Lyn Semeta has spent more money on her campaign for the Huntington Beach City Council than any other candidate, but another challenger, Daniel Brendan, has greatest amount of cash on hand.
According to Campaign Contribution Form 460s on file in the city clerk’s office, Semeta has spent $31,707 on her bid for a seat on the seven-member council in the Nov. 8 election. Brendan, meanwhile, has a war chest of $18,804 for his campaign.
These figures represent declarations for the period from July 1 to Sept. 24. The Tribune will be publishing updates as the campaign goes forward. Candidates are only required to file a Form 460 if they intend to raise or spend $2000 or more. All the candidates for city clerk – challenger Kevin Donovan and appointed incumbent Robin Estanislau – and city treasurer – Alisa Kutchen – will not be raising money above that amount.
Here are the city council candidates who filed a Form 460, including principal contributors. Note that candidates may “carry over” funds from another campaign and earlier fund-raising.
