Not a lot of local football action Saturday, but here are the results.
HIGH SCHOOL
Ocean View 42, Loara 0
The Seahawks jumped out to a 26-0 halftime lead Saturday at Handel Stadium in Anaheim and coasted the win in the Golden West League opener for both teams. Xavier Salgado threw for 280 yards in the win, as OVHS improved to 3-2 overall. Salgado also ran for 92 yards. Ocean View will next host Westminster (2-4, 0-1).
COLLEGE
Rustlers had a bye
The Golden West College football team took the week off. The Huntington Beach team (1-4) will be back in action on Saturday hosting Saddleback (5-0) at LeBard Stadium in Costa Mesa. It’s the conference opener for both.
Chapman 34, Whittier 10
In their conference opener, the Panthers defeated the Poets on the road Saturday to square their record at 2-2. Ricky Bautista passed for 252 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He also ran for 66 yards. Brandon Medina for two touchdowns. Chapman will next visit the University of Redlands next Saturday is another Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
