An update on campus modernization will top Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education. The board meets at 7 p.m. at the Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.
Rick Nakano, assistant superintendent of business services, Margie Brown, director of facilities, and Jerry Hills, assistant director of facilities, will make the presentation to the board.
Voters in 2010 approved Measure A, a bond issue which raised over $250 million for school repair and modernization. Together with grants and other financing, the amount dedicated to construction was around $500 million.
On Nov. 8, voters will consider another bond issue – Measure P – that will raise another $311 million to complete the modernization, including air conditioning for all classrooms and a new stadium at Bolsa Grande High School.
Also on the agenda will be a presentation by Santiago High principal Mike Kennedy and Kelly McAmis, assistant superintendent of secondary education on precision aquatics.
The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove and portions of Westminster and other cities.
