One night after winning by a four-goal margin, the Anaheim Ducks were on the receiving end of a similar defeat. At Honda Center Wednesday, the Orange County team was thrashed by the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1.
The loss dropped Anaheim to 4-5-2, good for 10 points and third place in the NHL Pacific Division. After Pittsburgh took a 2-0 first period lead, Cam Fowler brought the Ducks within one on a power play goal at the 15:49 mark, but that was all the scoring Anaheim could muster.
It was the Ducks’ second loss in three games and they have now been outscored 9-1 in home games. The Ducks are next in action on Friday hosting the Arizona Coyotes (3-6-0) at 7 p.m.
