Mariner girls improve to 4-0 with win

SIX of nine local prep basketball teams won Tuesday night, including two of four girls teams.

PACIFICA’S girls’ basketball team is 4-0 on the young season.

Pacifica High’s girls’ basketball team remained undefeated with a 47-39 win over Capistrano Valley Monday night. The Mariners are 4-0 and were led by Sunshine Townson with 13 points.

On the boys’ side, Garden Grove improved its record to 4-2 with a 62-46 win over Santa Ana Valley. Sebastian Castro had 22 for the Argonauts.

Top scorers for teams in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster for boys were Castro, Chris Robertson and Oscar Alcantar, who each scored 18 points for Santiago.

Among girls, the high scorer was Kaylyn Nakaji, who totaled 22 for Huntington Beach. Townson had 13 for Pacifica.
