Walker’s 39 leads Chargers past HBHS

EDISON defeated Huntington Beach Wednesday in boys’ basketball action.

Randall Walker scored 39 points to lead the Edison High boys’ basketball team to a 72-59 win over Huntington Beach Wednesday night at the Charger gym. The win put the Chargers at 7-0 atop the Sunset League and 21-4 overall.

With the loss, the Oilers dropped to 3-4 and 14-10. Hayden Moore scored 24 points for the orange-and-black.

Ocean View tightened its grip on first place in the Golden West League race with its 66-51 win over second place Westminster. The Seahawks, led by Mehkel Harvey’s 27 points, are 7-0 in the GWL and 18-6 overall. The Lions went to 4-3 and 10-13.

In girls’ action Wednesday, Pacifica stayed in the struggle for the Empire League crown with its 42-20 win over Western. The Mariners are now 5-2 in league (18-6 overall), tied with Kennedy for second and one game behind Tustin (6-1). The M’s have key game coming up Friday visiting the Tillers.
