Huntington tops the D-1 baseball poll

HUNTINGTON BEACH High’s baseball team is ranked number one on this week’s Division 1 CIF-SS poll.

Baseball and softball teams in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area are getting lots of recognition in this week’s CIF-SS polls released on Monday. Five squads are ranked in the top 10 lists.

In baseball, Huntington Beach is rated number one in Division 1, while Sunset League rival Edison is ranked ninth in Division 2. In softball, Pacifica is eighth in Division 1, while Santiago and Rancho Alamitos are ranked first and second in Division 6.

In boys’ volleyball, Garden Grove and Bolsa Grande are rated fourth and 10th in Division 4.

LOCALS GET THREE WINS AT-BAT

Area high school baseball teams won three of seven contests played on Monday. All these games are non-league or tournament contests.
