Stephanie Klopfenstein is winning re-election as Garden Grove’s mayor in results available from the Orange County Registrar of Voters’ office at our deadline.

Klopfenstein was leading with 55.19 percent of the vote to Thu-Ha Nguyen, a former Garden Grove city council member, with 44.81 percent.

In Westminster, incumbent Chi Charlie Nguyen held a slight lead over Councilmember Carlos Manzo, the margin being just 114 votes.

The City of Huntington Beach doesn’t elect its mayor directly; the position is filled from among city council members and usually rotated annually.

In Stanton, there was no election for mayor, as long-time incumbent David Shawver was the lone candidate.

City council races by city are:
• Garden Grove: Roger Flanders is leading in District 1; incumbent Cindy Ngoc Tran leading in District 3; Hieu Nguyen leading in District 4. Incumbent Joe DoVinh is in third behind Nguyen and Phat But.
• Huntington Beach: The voting for four seats is very close, but the three incumbent councilmembers – Casey McKeon, Pat Burns and Andrew Gruel – were running in the first three spots. However, six candidates had attracted at least 25,000 votes.
• Stanton: In District 1, challenger Thomas Frazier is leading incumbent Donald Torres by 56.66 percent to 43.34 percent. In District 3 – with no incumbent – Marlon-Ray Velasco had the lead with 44.43 percent in three-person field.
• Westminster: David Johnson has a lead over controversial incumbent Amy Phan West by 50.03 percent to 42.86 percent in the District 1 race. In District 4, incumbent Namquan Nguyen is ahead, polling 39.80 percent in a four-person field.
