Anaheim may be home to the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but its residents may not be jollier than folks in Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. A survey released this week by the personal finance website WalletHub ranked “Surf City” and “The Big Strawberry” among the happiest large cities in the United States.
The study, which examined factors such as emotional and physical well-being, income and employment rank, and community and environment factors, placed Huntington Beach sixth in the nation in its ratings of the 150 largest cities in the U.S. Garden Grove ranked 14th.
Overall, five Orange County cities were in the top 50. Irvine was third behind Fremont and San Jose. Anaheim was 18th and Santa Ana 45th. California cities dominated the list, taking 14 of the top 20 spots and eight of the top 10.
Huntington Beach ranked sixth in emotional well-being, 11th in income and employment and 45th in community and environment. Garden Grove placed 11th in emotional well-being, 45th in income and employment, and 43rd in community and environment.
At the bottom of the rankings were Detroit (150th), Cleveland (149th), and Augusta, Ga. (148th). For the complete list, go to www.wallethub.com.
