Shots fired, two are injured in incident

TWO PERSONS, including one police officer, were wounded in an shooting incident late Sunday night in Huntington Beach.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting incident Sunday night in Huntington Beach, which injured two people, including one police officer.

According to Officer Jennifer Marlatt, spokesperson for the Huntington Beach Police Department, the incident started at 10:26 p.m. when a report was received of shots fired in the area of Beacon Hill and Lawn Haven. Arriving officers contacted a man and a woman, but “at some point during the contact an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

The woman was not harmed but was detained for further questioning. The man was struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital with injuries, which were not considered life-threatening. An officer was injured and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The OCSD’s inquiry is protocol for all officer-related shooting incidents.
