A 13-YEAR-OLD boy is being held in the stabbing murder of his 48-year-old mother in Garden Grove.

A woman allegedly stabbed by her 13-year-old son in Garden Grove on Wednesday has died from her injuries, according to Lt. Carl Whitney of the Garden Grove Police Department.

Barbara Scheuer-Souzer, 48 – not 30 years old as was previously listed – died Wednesday night. Her son was booked at Juvenile Hall. Because he is a juvenile, his name will not be made public.

At 5:44 p.m. on Wednesday, police were sent to the 11000 block of Gilbert Street in Garden Grove regarding a report of a woman having been stabbed. She had suffered stab wounds to the abdomen.

Officers rendered first aid, and Garden Grove Fire Department paramedics treated the woman before she was transported to the hospital. According to police, she identified the teenage relative as her assailant.

A search of the area turned up the suspect at a nearby shopping center, where he was taken into custody without incident. During the search, Gilbert Street was closed to traffic for several hours.

GGPD detectives are continuing their investigation of the crime.
