A man bearing a demand note – and claiming he had a firearm – held up a bank in Garden Grove Saturday morning, according to police. The incident took place around 10 a.m. at the Chase Bank branch at 11922 Brookhurst St., just north of Chapman Avenue.
Police say a man approached a teller and presented a note which demanded money; he “indicated he had a firearm,” according to Sgt. Michael Viscomi of the GGPD.
The teller gave him $1000 in $100 bills and returned to him his note, as he demanded. The suspect left the bank on foot and no vehicle was seen.
Witness describe the suspect as white male in his late 20s to early 30s, standing 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 inches tall, unshaven with “messy dirty blond hair.” He was wearing a long sleeve gray sweatshirt similar to a thermal short, black pants and black athletic shoes. The GGPD is investigating the robbery on conjunction with the FBI.
