A man accused of the 1994 murder of two men in Huntington Beach will be arraigned Monday in Santa Ana. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney’s office, Lamberto Ricci Castillo, 64, of Alamosa, Colorado will face two felony counts of murder with sentencing enhancements. If convicted, he faces a life sentence in state prison.
Authorities believe that Castillo is the man who, on the evening of March 31, 1994, fatally shot Kenny Paul Summer, 23, and Chen “Cosmo” Maui Blanchard, 23 in the area of Main Street and Orange Avenue in downtown Huntington Beach, and then fled the scene.
No arrests were made at the time, but the HBPD re-opened the case in 2016 and contacted the Orange County Cold Case Homicide Task Force to help in the investigation. Castillo was arrested on April 27, 2017 based on what authorities call “newly-developed evidence.”
He will be arraigned at 10 a.m. in Central Jail, Santa Ana.
