ARRAIGNMENT is set Monday for a Huntington Beach man accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-girl in his vehicle while working as an Uber driver.
Arraignment is set for Monday morning at the Harbor Justice Center for an Uber driver accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated 17-year-old girl.
Samer Alaaeldin Mahran of Huntington Beach is facing multiple sexual assault charges in connection with the events of Nov. 5, 2016. According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, a family member of the girl summoned an Uber ride for the girl who was outside a bar in Huntington Beach at 2 a.m. When the girl did not return to her home in Laguna Beach, the car was located using Uber’s tracking feature. The suspect and the girl were located in the back seat of the vehicle, which was parked near the girl’s home.
As the girl’s relative helped the girl out of the vehicle, Mahran allegedly got into the front seat and drove off. The suspect is accused of raping, digitally penetrating and orally copulating the girl without her consent, as she was unconscious due to intoxication.
Laguna Beach police identified the suspect using his license plate, description and driver profile on his Uber application. He was arrested at his apartment on Huntington Beach later that day.
