A Sacramento woman was charged Thursday with two misdemeanor counts of battery for her role in a melee earlier this year between supporters of President Donald Trump and counter-protestors at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, Jessica Aguilar, 20, is facing a maximum sentence of one year in county jail. Her arraignment is set for June 20 at West Justice Center in Westminster.
The “Make America Great Rally” on March 26 attracted over 1,000 people, including supporters, protestors and spectators. Aguilar is accused of punching a man in the face, and slapping another man twice across the face.
She was arrested by California State Parks officers. The Orange County District Attorney’s office has received three other requests regarding incidents at the march, but is declining to file charges because it was decided that responsibility for who had started a particular fight couldn’t be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
