The Angels dropped into third place in the American League West Wednesday after their 4-0 loss to the Tigers in Detroit. Alex Meyer pitched well but received little support from his team at bat, as the Halos managed only three hits.
Meyer (2-3) lasted six innings, giving up three hits and no earned runs. He struck out four and walked nine. The Tigers broke open a close 1-0 game with three runs in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Yusmeiro Petit.
Buck Farmer (2-0) got the win for the Tigers, going 6.2 innings and yielding three hits and no runs. He struck out five and walked one.
After the loss, the Angels are 30-32, one game behind the Seattle Mariners (29-30). The series continues Thursday in Detroit with J.C. Ramirez making the start for the Angels.
