The annual Flag Day ceremony in Westminster’s Civic Center will take place on Wednesday at noon. The event will include a performance by the Warner Middle School Band, the reading of “That Ragged Old Flag” and a history of the flag and appearances by the Westminster Police Honor Guard and the Nicholson Pipes and Drums.
The event is free and refreshments will be provided. The Civic Center is located at 8200 Westminster Blvd., east of Beach Boulevard.
Cabaret series starts at Gem Theater
A Summer Cabaret Series at the Gem Theater on Main Street in Garden Grove starts on Tuesday with “An Evening With John Bucchino Featuring Sean Watkins.”
The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 each. Subsequent shows will be on June 23 and 26 with appearances by pianist Bobby Stovall and singer Debbi Ebert. For details, go to www.onemoreproductons.com
The Force comes to Main Street again with “Rogue One.”
A free showing of the “Star Wars: Rogue One” film will be offered on Main Street in Garden Grove on Thursday, June 29. Events will begin at 7 p.m. and the film screening at 8:30 p.m.
Entertainment will include bounce houses, “Star Wars” characters and there will be free “light sabers” for the first 400 children. Main Street will be closed that day from noon to midnight.
The next free film will be “Moana,” scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Westminster Chamber hosts installation and awards
The annual meeting, board installation and awards luncheon of the Westminster Chamber of Commerce will be held at The Luxe Buffet in Westminster Mall from noon to 1:15 p.m.
