Firefighters in Huntington Beach rescued a person whose hand was stuck in heavy machinery Monday morning.

According to Marco Tello of the HB Fire Department, units were dispatched to 8800 Burlcrest Dr. around 10 a.m. for a medical aid. Because of the complexity of the rescue, Truck 45 was summoned to assist.

Making certain that the machinery was disabled, the firefighters were able to safely remove the person’s hand from a sprocket and chain. The patient was treated for pain during the rescue effort.

Hydraulic power tools were used to cut a chain and free the victim’s hand. The patient was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
