71-year-old bicyclist is killed in crash

A 71-YEAR– OLD man died Monday morning after he was struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle in Garden Grove.

A 71-year-old Garden Grove man is dead after being struck by a car in Garden Grove on Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, the accident occurred around 4:53 p.m. in front of 12732 Buaro St. The man was identified by the Orange County Coroner’s office as Eliseo Quiroz.

Police say that Quiroz was riding a bicycle when he was hit by an automobile, which also crashed into two parked cars. He was pinned under the vehicle and officers and citizens were able to lift the car and pull the man out.

He was treated at the scene and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m.

Police believe that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. As part of their inquiry, traffic investigators are hoping to speak with the driver of a silver Ford Expedition who may have witnessed the accident.
