A 46-year-old transient was arrested Sunday night for allegedly attacking and robbing a woman in Garden Grove.

According to Sgt. Brian Dalton of the GGPD, the incident occurred in the 13900 block of Brookhurst Street (north of Westminster Avenue) around 8:18 p.m. The victim, a 50-year-old woman from Garden Grove, told police she was walking to an automatic teller machine with money in her hand when she was approached by a man carrying a gun.

He allegedly assaulted her and took her money. Arriving officers saw the suspect fleeing the scene and arrested him a short distance away. Police say the man was positively identified and the woman’s property recovered.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries. According to Sgt. Dalton, “This appears to be an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects.”
