Motor home fire does $150k damage

A FIRE IN a motor home at a service station in Garden Grove did an estimated $150,000 in damage Saturday morning (GGFD photo).

A fire in a motor home also damaged a service station and another vehicle Saturday morning in Garden Grove, doing an estimated $150,000 in damage.

According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the blaze was reported in the 10000 block of Brookhurst Street, south of Westminster Avenue, at 9:08 a.m. Arriving firefighters found the motor home ablaze, with the flames extending to an awning structure and another vehicle.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. The damage to the motor home was estimated to be $50,000, with damage to the building structure to be $100,000.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Building inspectors from the City of Garden Grove red-tagged the gas pump area and awning structure.
